Mixed purse

I honestly tried, gave information technology a more than half the episodes simply sadly but weren't my matter, I saw the trailer a while dorsum and was interested but something about the show really didn't capture me. Honestly glad to meet in that location are people that enjoy it, and promise it lives up to your expectations. Looking over the reviews it seems one those shows yous'll either actually become into or only wont. Promise that helps, But on a more technically side I did like the fashion information technology was filmed, perhaps I might come back maybe non, wait and see.

I made it thru Season 2, episode three

This is Well-nigh good . . . virtually there - merely I'm finding it's but not expert plenty to beginning the limited pouty skills of Ashleigh Cummings. I'm finally only Then annoyed past having to spotter her go through the same very limited set of facial expressions and body slouches, pilus things. Heart squinties . . . aaarghghgh . . . I want to strangle her and throw her out of view.

Nope. Not gonna practise it.

I'm out.

Neglect

This could've been so skillful. Unfortunately at that place are far, far besides many 'C'mon now, that'due south and so stupid!' scenarios, scenes and character reactions to things. I mean really stupid. I won't become into it as I don't desire to give anything away for those who will watch this. I made it through to the end. Was unsure I would. due to the annoyance of the stupidity.

Some practiced ideas in this bear witness and decent acting. It's the writers who've created stupid situations and reactions of the characters. It'south incredibly tedious watching something that is stupid. It ruins the momentum of the prove and immersive experience.

Cracking volume, atrocious serial

Alert: Spoilers

Note to Hollywood producers: If you buy a practiced volume, just stick to the book. Is it that hard? Ane of Stephen King's finest serial of novels ('Mr Mercedes') was utterly butchered for TV. Poor casting for well-nigh every major character, dreadful additions of plot that weren't in the book and just a travesty given how good the books were.

Now, with King's son Joe Hill's superb novel NOS4A2, we run into a similar handling. A fantastic book, wrecked by Television producers. Where to fifty-fifty begin with this? For a horror it'southward a slow equally a wet calendar week. The awful 'safety mask' makeup and over the top vox for Manx really set the tone for the lack of attending to item across the board with this.

Given how strong young actors were in Stranger Things, this needed to remain true to the book and have a immature lead. Instead we have an Aussie actress who is 26 years old, playing an eighteen yr old, and she'southward manifestly way too onetime for even this role. The extra playing her mother is a mere 10 years older than her, and they look closer to sisters than mother and girl. Oh and the mother's accent! Yikes!

Just why did the producers feel any need to all of a sudden maker Vic an angsty teen? Crazy selection. All of a sudden we're burdened with all this high schoolhouse melodrama and the feisty young graphic symbol is now a whiny teen, played past a woman who's closer to xxx than she is to a teenager. She'southward the incorrect actress at the wrong age, in the wrong part with the wrong managing director, using the wrong emphasis. She was great in Puberty Dejection, merely she's merely lost in this testify, and to exist fair they did not give her a lot to piece of work with.

The stride only drags as we get endless family unit arguments and a tedious sub plot nigh how hard information technology is to get into college - I mean who cares?

I highly recommend the book, but this is total garbage. Avoid!

I note that Joe Hill wrote another fantastic book called The Firewoman which is besides now in production as a film or series. I would be very worried if I was Joe, because like his father, Hollywood rarely ever gets novels correct and his legacy might be 'writes good books, which make terrible Telly'.

Very very tedious

Alert: Spoilers

Fantastic premise that never really goes anywhere. Some other show that simply keeps pushing off whatever sort of progression or resolution. Even the finale was anticlimactic and merely acted as a continuation. Too much family drama rather than storyline. Mild spoiler - y'all never become to come across Christmasland.

I cure for insomnia.....

Alarm: Spoilers

What makes expert horror work is its antithesis. There has to be low-cal to off set the darkness.

Regrettably with NOS4A2 its wall to wall gloom. This serial is set in the United states of america version of Le Miserable'south. Impoverished neighbourhoods, lost dreams, dysfunctional families.

Topping off all this misery is a creepy old weirdo who drives effectually in a vintage luxury machine, abducting kids. If that sounds downright depressing and ugly, well in my view, that'due south considering it is.

The series cause is made no better by painfully slow pacing, hinted at scares that corporeality to aught and a general fug of uninspired mediocrity with a vaguely teenie angst matter, going on.

Suffice to say unless you are having trouble sleeping I'd suggest this is ane to avoid. 4/10.

Don't believe the people on hither proverb that this series is "worth the watch" because information technology'due south non

Warning: Spoilers

This show is garbage. It takes the original cloth and somehow steps away from information technology and makes it's own desperately written version of it that is so Steven King, and at present his son Joe Loma, in the way that a paycheck is made and cashed while the author turns a blind eye to the horror that is this prove.

The make a mess of the primary characters and destroy this serial with horrible make-up and writing. Charlie Manx is not scary any and the lady is a full moron who is not the clever girl that Joe Hill wrote about and neither is Charlie Manx.

This is at all-time a nail striking on SYFY like Kryptonite, which also tarnishes its original textile too.

Don't waste your time on this horrible series. I have no idea how information technology is on season 2, it is not deserving.

Meh

Warning: Spoilers

I came across this by accident and the premise sounded interesting. I'd never heard of the books I guess it'due south based on so all new for me.

The first few episodes drew me in but the side by side few just went downhill. I gave the lead grapheme the benefit of the doubt the first few episodes but now information technology's to the bespeak it's grating on me - take a bath and wash your pilus or get a proper haircut. Maybe even change your clothes. Nosotros get it, you're supposed to be a rebel. She likewise looks to be in her early to mid 30s playing an eighteen year old then perchance the look is to endeavor to compensate for that?

The testify starts off with a blindside with 2 people having sex so I'm guessing that was done intentionally to let u.s.a. know this wasn't CW. However, you yet have to wade through some of the teen drama midway through.

The scrabble daughter, who seems pretty street smart to me runs on to open pavement to try to outrun a vehicle when she could have easily dodged behind any parked motorcar next to her. That's just lazy writing.

Anyway, not trying to knock the lead extra simply I just think she was really miscast for this role.

Yikes dude. AMC has really lost the spark that made their originals exciting.

Quitno as old man Manx is all cringe. Music is pretty bad, editing is clunky and non-expert. Dialogue is not quite trash, simply it'south certainly a long way from inspired. It's clear the showrunners had no idea what to do with this story. They just did what goggle box people exercise, turn 13-twelvemonth-onetime characters into 17-year-one-time angsty dirtbike-riding whiners. And that's the real shame because it is a fantastic story. Oh well. If yous're interested, pick up the book.

bummer

I admittedly loved the offset season of this prove. It was outstanding. I only made it halfway through the first episode of season two. I'm guessing the show wasn't a success, because the second flavor characters don't seem annihilation similar they did in season one. Plus, the testify seemed to be leaning toward an agenda like all other american shows. Nix originality. Hope yous tin bask it better than I.

watching to see what happens to Millie..... Vic too unlikable

Warning: Spoilers

This show has an interesting concept and the actors are very adept. Quinto beingness the absolute standout of the show. He is infrequent as Manx. Bachrach, who plays Vic's dad, is and so interesting to lookout man. Every time he'south in a scene I want to watch more of him. Conforti, who plays Manx's daughter Millie, completely steals the prove. One of the chief reasons I'grand still watching the show is to see more of Millie'southward background and what will happen to her. Her newfound interest in her childhood home and the world beyond Christmas land is a plot line I'm invested in. The bug with the prove have to do with unlikability of the protagonist (Vic) and the unbelievably in plot development. For instance: eight years have passed betwixt flavour one and season 2. When season 2 begins nosotros see Vic as a loving mother. Flawed (active alcoholism) and emotionally damaged (b/c of her experiences with Manx 8 years prior) just nevertheless, it'south obvious that she is a loving mother. We are also shown that she has a loving relationship with the man she met in flavor ane and they accept been raising her kid together. In the next episode nosotros run into her leaving her man , whom she just made promises of wedlock to, and leaving her child who she clearly loves a neat bargain. It doesn't click at all. Information technology's portrayed as if she left because she'due south an alcoholic and because of her obsession with Manx. However, that doesn't work at all. I was not convinced. The other plot bespeak that is unconvincing is the human relationship between FBI amanuensis Romans (played past Tabitha Hutter, a stunning beauty) and Maggie (played by Jahkara Smith). In season one Maggie is an emotional wreck and drug addict who is and so strung out Vic finds her sleeping virtually a dumpster. A plot point is bluntly inserted about Maggie's parents non accepting her homosexuality. It'southward not very well done at all. It comes across as virtue signaling to the audience rather than something we can empathize with Maggie nearly. Then in season two Maggie is seemingly completely off drugs, emotionally mature and in a committed human relationship with FBI agent Romans. Even if the audience believes that Maggie has grown up and cleaned upwards in the 8 years that have passed it's not believable that an FBI agent would exist interested in someone like Maggie. I'm certain that mature upstanding people fall in dearest with immature people all the time, just it's merely not disarming here. I'm even so watching the show though, even though Vic has become quite unlikable (it's very difficult to root for her) and the audience is being asked to believe in some not very well done plot points. As mentioned in a higher place I'thousand very interested in what happens to Mille and Manx.

Jingle without whatever 🔔 due south

In that location is good and really bad! The proficient is Zachary Quinto I remember his superb performance in Heroes crikey he was scary and in this equally so. Not read the volume and then can't compare but to say nine/10 books always are better than whatever telly/ flick adaption due to the individuals imagination very rarely with a lot of fourth dimension and care and a talented script writer they can exceed expectations. Still as much as the footing of the story is quite scary and interesting the script writing is quite bismal and the plot holes numerous! I am on flavour two which is set eight years later she at present has an 8yr former son yet the female lead looks and dresses identically as she was/did in season 1 seriously would not have taken much effort to change her looks ,! I can not count the many times I have questioned reactions etc of characters as stupid and nonsensical and accept had to switch off mentally to be able to continue watching it'due south like the type of show you lot get angry at but go along to watch to pick at their next stupidity I would still rate it worth a lookout man if you haven't read the book.

Season one started interesting..

An interesting premise with no existent evolution and no feasible characters to root for. Seasons i was interesting only flavour 2 is completely awful. Vic McQueen is a horrible character and not worth anyone's time. All of the characters make pointless decisions and terminate up doing the opposite of what they say their intent is. And then disappointed in Zachary Quinto too.

Has potential

Alarm: Spoilers

The realisation of the potential has non been fulfilled notwithstanding. The plot is intriguing and there are some good acting performances. However there is a lot of light-headed scenes like the wraith running down Margaret and she purposely run towards open spaces and avoids hiding backside the dozen or so cars she walks past. There a few scenes like that merely seem to be poorly thought out. The chief protagonist Vik Mcqueen is as well incredibly annoying as she just looks pouty and miserable at all times and her stupidity causes her further bug. That said the rest of the series is very good I just wish some scenes were thought out slightly meliorate

Flavor two - Deteriorated

Season 1 was novel; creepy. The series has potential, merely needs better intelligent creative writing. Season 2 showed the same ol', same ol' w/fewer, and cheaper predictable effects, e.one thousand. buried explosives, metallic crushing. Even the hour glass mind controller (done in other movies) seemed haphazardly tossed in. The motorbike Wraith hunt scene with 17 shots fired (Did the director lose count?) at the car window was boringly cliché. Acting was lifeless & stale - adults & children.

Hooked

I did non read the book so did not go in with any expectations. I can see why someone would feel disappointed if they had read it equally there'southward then much depth to the story and we only scratch the surface of the intimate details of the story. Which to me just means so much moreScope for further seasons. Personally if something can catch my attention it's good. and it definitely had my attention.

likewise many plot holes and drama

Commencement off as this is a review I would say that this show is worth watching but only if you have nothing else to picket. It is a shame that they made such a terrible job of adapting Joe Hill's brilliant story.

At times if y'all can get by the numerous inaccuracies the plot holes, the poor interim and copious amounts of drama then it is watchable but as I said only if there is zippo else on Telly.

I also institute the lesbian scenes shocking not because of anything graphic but because they were out of place and off kilter from the story line, indeed I can run into no reason to have included these scenes. But the producers know why they included these scenes.

The plot holes are hard to alive with as well and prevent the viewer from ownership into the story.

Just the worst thing nearly this show IMO is that the cast are unlikeable, indeed, i really could not care less about any of them.

The lead actress who is in her mid 20's plays a angsty teenager and information technology really does not fit or work. It looks ridiculous when she shares a scene with her screen female parent, who is in reality around the same age as her.

Yeah the whole bandage with the exception of Zachary Quinto are unlikeable - and he is supposed to be unlikable.

Another disappointing testify that could have been fantastic

Not bad Premise, Weak Execution

This could have been astonishing. Creepy villain and lackey, spooky Christmas themed horror fantasy land, what's non to love. Then they bring in all the subplots and just bide time episode after episode. By the 10th I was praying for annihilation absurd or suspenseful to happen but aught. Waste of a lot of hours of my and my wife'due south lives. Should accept trusted the other reviewers and passed. Big letdown for any horror fan

Pretty awful

Not what I idea. Information technology's boring and stumbles around similar a lost zombie. Information technology'southward not engaging or scary in whatever fashion. I notice the whole Christmas state affair a bit stupid. Characters are ii dimensional and I just don't care what happens to them. Zachary John Quinto is improve than this. Dont waste Ur time if your looking for an action packed scare fest..
